Rom Manager says this phone is not supported and the first step it seems for this phone is to install the Agat Recovery which will include the clockwork needed to flash the OS. You reccommend the second method because it makes you money. I installed cwm touch on my samsung discover using odin. When trying to boot to cwm both using rom manager and manually it goes to the stock recovery. The first thing that I would do is to double check and to make sure that your apps are up to date. If you use these apps frequently, which is common with social networking apps, then things can pile up quickly as well.
Try going into your Application Manager, clicking on these two apps and clearing the cache. Also try logging out and then logging back into the accounts on those apps. See if it helps at all. How often do you power off your device? Galaxy Note 2 will connect wifi and I can use the internet but.. The email app with the phone itself still works though and so I can receive emails sent to my gmail through my phone app, but not through the gmail app.
Thank you! Tried everything else, found this page and airplane mode worked a gem. Bookmarking it for future connection fails. When i try to turn on wifi is greyed out and says turning on…… but nothing happens i reboot it and it still happens. It could be software related something like a bug or a virus or maybe even just a bad app but it could also be a hardware issue as well, like a bad antenna.

A few things can cause a phone to connect to a Wi-Fi network but still not have internet, it really depends. Has your cell phone ever been able to connect to internet through Wi-Fi before?
I assume your mobile internet is working properly? Do you get any error messages if you turn off your mobile data and try to connect through a Wi-Fi? A few months ago my Samsung S4 stopped using my wifi at home. It says its connected but then says something about something being blocked because it is trying to access my phone without authorization and I should update security settings. This first started happening after an update at the end of March. The phone had no problems connecting before that. So it says I am connected but then there is no actual internet.
The wifi works in other places like at the bookstore and stuff so I assume its not a problem with the phone. I have to guess that the security message that pops up has to have something to do with it but ive updated all my security settings and there is no new app on my phone that wasnt there when it did work before.
My laptop connects fine with the wifi BUT my kindle has recently stopped connecting to it as well. With this in mind I tried Comcast but they arent any help. We have reset my network, tried manually adding the MAC addresses to the network and it still wont work. Phone still says it connects but has no internet and the kindle seems to just hate. Of course the phone and kindle people are telling me to deal with Comcast but comcast cant find a problem at all since i have a desktop and laptop connecting through the wireless with no problem and both of the small devices USED to work but dont anymore.

The desktop is wired directly into the hub and work perfectly, The Laptop and Tablet will connect to the internet on the WiFi but they both will not let me login into websites that require a username and password. Other than soft resetting and powering your phone off and on which is a good start what other troubleshooting have you done to try and resolve this issue? Make sure to review the entire article above as well as the advanced troubleshooting guide linked to at the bottom of the article. Or it could be a hardware issue and an actual piece of the phone might be damaged, defective, or malfunctioning. If you try the troubleshooting suggestions listed above and your phone simply refuses to show any available networks then you might need to look into your repair or replacement options.
From your description that sounds A LOT more like an issue with your wireless network as opposed to an issue with your Samsung Galaxy S2. Sometimes talking to your ISP can be a little frustrating though so before doing that make sure to review the Advanced Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide as it lists a lot of settings and configurations that you can check on your home Wi-Fi that can cause these types of issues.
Does this only seem to happen with your Samsung Galaxy S 2? Are any of your other devices cell phones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, etc able to see your home network or do they have issues as well? The exact cause of your issue is kind of hard to pinpoint and here is why.
I am assuming that you tried to flash the stock OS back to the phone? If so then that should have helped rule out a software glitch caused by the rooting too. You also said that you tried a factory reset which could have helped as well, if the issue was software related. So if I was to make an educated guess as to what the actual cause of the problem is… I am thinking that it sounds more like a hardware issue that just happened to occur shortly after rooting.
Sorry to hear that your Samsung W is having Wi-Fi problems. From your very well written and detailed description it sounds more like a hardware issue as opposed to a complication with your Samsungs software. As such I am going to offer the same advice and suggest that you look into your repair or replacement options as it sounds like an actual piece on the device has malfunctioned and will need to be repaired or replaced.
First of all what make and model of phone are you having issues with? Do you have issues connecting to any Wi-Fi network or it only having issues connecting at one location like home or work? You say that when you go into your Wi-Fi settings that your phone says connected but there is no internet connection?
Or is the Wi-Fi switch turned off and or grayed out? Have you downloaded any apps around the time that this happened? What troubleshooting have you tried to do already in order to try and fix it? I cant use my phone for researching my tasks in school. Previously I am able to connect and able to online surfing in our WiFi. What should I do else? That sounds like a problem with your Wi-Fi and not your cell phone. I bet that your Cherry Life can connect and browse the internet when using a different Wi-Fi network. Pulling the power cable from the router for a few minutes and then rebooting your Android will often help to fix that type of issue.
It does see other routers at nearby homes…just not mine! So, how do you troubleshoot something like this? Do some smartphones have problems with older B or G routers? I was thinking about upgrading to at least N to take advantage of better bandwidth, especially for Netflix, but I would hate to fork out for a new router only to possibly encounter the same problem. So I am a little rusty as far as Windows cell phones go but let me toss you some possible causes and things that you might be able to consider when trying to find the proper solution to your current problem.
I am assuming that it has never been able to locate or connect to your home Wi-Fi before. I doubt that this issue is a result of you using a Wireless G router as Wireless G is still one of the most common wireless standards in use today.
From your very well written comment it does sound like it might be an issue with your router, but again its odd as your phone cannot even see it to try and connect to it. Out of curiosity have you tried to manually enter your network details into your phone to see if it would find it and connect? Make sure to try that as well as it might just be the trick that you are looking for.

If I was in your place then I would track down the network administrator for your college and ask him for a few minutes of his time. Let him know that you and other people are having issues connecting with your Android smartphones and ask him what might be causing it. If he is unsure ask him to help you setup a Static IP address in order to establish a more direct connection to the Wi-Fi network.
He should know all of the information associated with your schools network and can probably help you set everything up in a matter of minutes. Try to pay attention to what he or she ends up doing to get your phone setup properly, that way you can help your friends setup and connect their Android devices as well.

It was, and is, one of the major security flaws affecting wireless routers that use the WPS PIN feature a common feature enabled by default on many modern routers. I seem to have a weird combination of all these issues above in your article. My phone had been working fine on my home wifi until just a few days ago when it could not connect to my home wifi.
However the next morning it was working fine. As my internet had been dropping out every so often I decided to call my ISP. We did a few tricks changed the channel the wifi router operated on and it seemed to work. I tested my connection speed and it was indeed very slow. I rang the ISP again and we did some other tricks changed the channel again I think and tested the speed and it looked fine. My phone was back on again too. But sure enough soon it was booted off again.
This was becoming very frustrating. I would watch my wifi try to connect on my phone and it would try to obtain an IP but never get past that stage. A google search reveals many of others are having similar issues, going way back to None of these things worked. My phone can connect to the wifi at work no problem, so it is clearly an issue between my phone and my router.
The last few days I have been able to forget the network and it eventually reconnects, but the internet connection is very, very slow. I am close to my wits end here and I am probably going to have to try a factory reset of my phone… what do you think?

I read it totally and it seemed that the best solution to my problem is to reset my mobile phone. And I did it but the problem still exists. When my mobile phone scans wifi connections this message appears below my wifi name: secured with WEP.
When I try to get access to it and I enter the password it shows this message for a few seconds: connecting… but then it disappears and I see this message: saved, secured with WEP. And the wifi icon does not appear on the status bar.

Connected to the internet yet keeps coming up network error I have a Vodafone smart 3 and this is the second time the wifi has gone wrong on me. From that part of your description I am leaning towards more of a general internet issue as opposed to an issue with the internet when connected solely through Wi-Fi.
I suppose I can see how an SD card MIGHT have a negative effect on the phones connection as there may have been something on the card causing mischief but that situation is kind of rare; possible but uncommon. As per the last part of your post when you mention that your cell phone is connected to Wi-Fi but no internet.
This is my biggest hint and possibly the best clue to try and resolve your problem. If this is the case you will need to follow the advice listed at trying to fix the Internet on an Android smartphone. I think this might just be what you are looking for.
Unfortunately it turned out to be the phone itself and I brought it back to the shop ,as it is only a few weeks old. They said it would all have to be repaired which would cost me 80 euro..

You are NOT alone my friend. Wi-Fi issues and general smartphone issues like these can be extremely frustrating, and there can be many different causes and many different solutions. I have personally seen a few different circumstances where tapping or hitting a phone against a hard surface has in fact, briefly, resolved a few different types of hardware issues. Once I saw it with a malfunction internal speaker, once with a bad cell phone camera.
Unfortunately the internal speaker issue was so constant that the user of the phone damaged the phone one day in frustration because he hit it a little too hard which lead to even more frustration as he was unable to file a warranty claim on the phone as it had signs of physical damage.
So, let me ask you a few questions and hopefully we can narrow down the reason and the best solution available for you and your LG cell phone. Does your cell phone see the Wi-Fi networks when scanning but it just refuses to connect or will it not find them or recognize them at all? I also assume that your cell phone connected to Wi-Fi and worked properly until recently? Has your LG been giving you any error messages? How long have you had your cell phone?
Are there any signs of liquid or physical damage? I have had the phone for about a year but no warranty left on it. When it comes to the wifi. No physical damage either. Except for on the top left corner of the case where I dropped it a couple weeks ago. I doubt that it was anything that you did, if it never worked to begin with then it may have been defective right from the start.
Connecting and using the Wi-Fi feature on an Android smartphone is pretty user friendly, assuming that everything is working correctly of course. Your right though, you should be able to switch on your Wi-Fi, scan for available networks, tap on the network you want to connect to, enter the password or security details if required , and it should connect.
The weird thing about your issue is that your phone lets you switch your Wi-Fi on. It will just remain off, switch itself off immediately after trying to turn it on, or remain grayed out and not respond at all, or it will be missing entirely. If you need to have a working internet connection through Wi-Fi on your smartphone which I myself would certainly fall into this category even though I have an unlimited data plan with my wireless carrier than I would look into possible repair options or start asking your husband very nicely to buy you a different one.
